FSU FOOTBALL SEASON OPENER

Florida State football will open its 2025 season against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th, at 3:30 PM EST in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles have made this contest a headliner with quarterback Thomas Castellanos's comments about Alabama.

It will be exciting to get back into Doak Campbell Stadium with all of the passionate fans as they look to cheer their squad on to victory. As we know, Florida State had a difficult time in 2024, where they finished with a 2-10 record.

Doak Campbell Stadium was lifeless as the losses continued to mount. It also didn't help that the home side was being renovated, and it had a limited capacity. We have around 44 days remaining until the season opener, and the stadium still isn't completed.

DOAK CAMPBELL STADIUM

I won't be impacted by the seating since my season tickets are on the visitors' side, but I know a ton of individuals who have lost their spots because of the renovations. This isn't an ideal situation for some because many feel like it is pointless to lose the amount of seating capacity. Doak Campbell Stadium could be down to 68,000 seating this fall.

I don't mind if it is a bleacher where I can decide to put a seat back or not, but individuals on the home side are having to pay an arm and a leg to sit over there, and they are not happy. Plus, when the Seminole Boosters put a picture on social media featuring the black chair backs, they were not happy.

To make matters worse, the stadium is expected to be completed with the renovations by the season opener, and they are still not finished with installing the chairbacks with cupholders. I hope that the administration can give the stadium a test run before it is here.

Athletic Director Michael Alford has doubled down on the fact that Doak Campbell Stadium will be finished before the game starts on Saturday, August 30th. We are ending "crunch time" for its completion.
