FSU FOOTBALL FALL CAMP
Florida State football conducted its first fall scrimmage in camp on Tuesday night. The Seminoles are looking to make individuals forget about the abysmal 2-10 campaign last year. Head football coach Mike Norvell made the necessary adjustments with new players and coaches.
I understand that the new players will be the subject of the fan base since they want to see a renewed energy within the program. However, those returning players don't get publicized enough unless they are pieces like Darrell Jackson Jr. or Earl Little Jr.
I want to highlight one name that not many in the fan base are talking about: Redshirt senior defensive end Jaden Jones.
DE JADEN JONES
Defensive coordinator Tony White went to the podium on Wednesday afternoon to discuss with the media about Tuesday's scrimmage, and he mentioned that Jones was arguably one of the best players on the football field in the scrimmage.
I originally thought that the Jones mentions were because he made a splash player here and there, but it speaks volumes that Coach White went out of his way to make a bold claim about the talented defender.
Coach Norvell spoke about Jones, too, where he mentioned that the veteran had two severe injuries that set him back. He stated that he flashed in the spring and started to come into his own during the summer.
It is crazy to think about the fact that the Seminoles were visiting Hutchinson Community College to visit superstar wide receiver Malik Benson (who eventually committed to Alabama that year) and found out and evaluated Jones there at that time.
I know that James Williams, Deante McCray, Jayson Jenkins, and Deamontae Diggs get a lot of love at defensive end, but I believe that the coaching staff is serious about including Jones in the mix (if he is fully healthy).
