Yray looks to know something.

SOCIAL MEDIA BUZZ

Florida State football's 2026 recruiting class has been hot lately, as it ranked 9th-best according to the 247Sports Composite. The program finished with a 2-10 record last season, so some individuals wonder where the positive traction comes from.

Simply put, head football coach Mike Norvell and this entire squad want to show that the Seminoles' 2024 season was an outlier. Overall, it feels like every day I am writing about recruiting success on the trail for Florida State.

To make matters better, General Manager Darrick Yray made a cryptic tweet on Twitter (X) earlier today. I realize that it is the end of June, and football is still a little over two months away. However, you cannot help but get excited by Yray's positivity.

TWEET FROM YRAY

"We ain't done yet." is a phrase that the Seminole fans have been expressing in high school recruiting. While I know all good things must come to an end eventually, I hope that Florida State football can give me a year of success in 2025.

Many on social media wonder which recruit Yray is talking about, so I shared my three candidates for who it could be.

FIVE-STAR CB CHAUNCEY KENNON

Florida State already grabbed four-star defensive back Jay Timmons in the fold last night, and he was a legacy recruit that the Seminoles wanted in the class. They now have four defensive back commits with the help of Patrick Surtain Sr. and Evan Cooper. It was thought that five-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon from Sarasota, Florida, could commit earlier than his July 6th announcement date.

FOUR-STAR LB RODNEY COLTON JR.

The Seminoles' new linebackers coach, John Papuchis, moved over to coach the position after defensive line coach Terrance Knighton was hired. Coach Papuchis has expanded his recruiting board with talented options. Florida State has four-star Karon Maycock and three-star Noah LaVallee in the class, but could they secure a four-star linebacker in Rodney Colton Jr?

FOUR-STAR DT EARNEST RANKINS

Florida State needs more help on the defensive line, as they only have three commitments with four-star James Carrington, four-star Tico Crittendon, and three-star Wihtlley Cadeau. The Seminoles need more talented depth in the trenches on offense and defense. A perfect match for them could be four-star Earnest Rankins, who is a Georgia native that they are battling with Auburn.
