What happened to FSU basketball in blowout loss against Texas A&M?

Long way to go to find consistency against good teams

FSU basketball never had a shot at beating the Texas A&M Aggies on Friday evening. The Aggies were the better team from the jumpball, jumping out to an 11-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game, and FSU never threatened after that.

It was a perfect storm of FSU missing multiple three-pointers early, Texas A&M making three-pointers, and getting multiple offensive rebounds.

FSU never looked comfortable as Texas A&M pushed its lead to 24-6 with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. I mentioned FSU relies on the three-pointer too much, shooting 22 in the first half, and only making four. They were 9-41 for the game (22 percent), and 56 percent of their shots from the floor were three-pointers.

FSU was terrible at the free-throw line, only making eight of 17 attempts. FSU was -20 overall on the boards and only generated seven points off of 16 Texas A&M turnovers.

FSU literally failed to do everything we mentioned they had to do in the preview to win the game. Maybe it was one of those games where they were not ready to play, and you watch the game film once and flush it.

We already knew FSU isn't a great rebounding team, but they have to start getting to the rim when the three pointers are not falling; otherwise, FSU will have several blowout losses like this.

When they get to the free-throw line, they must make a higher percentage. They must score points off the turnovers they generate. We'll get to find out what this team is made of as they face another SEC team on Tuesday when they host Georgia.
