FSU FOOTBALL OUTLOOK
Florida State football will be taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST on ABC. The game will be played in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium. It will be here before fans know it!
The season opener keeps getting more attention as quarterback Thomas Castellanos expressed confidence in the Seminoles' ability to beat the Crimson Tide. Then, SEC homer Paul Finebaum had to chime in with saying that Florida State wouldn't even be competitive.
BAMA FOOTBALL OUTLOOK
This isn't BamaChat, I don't prefer to discuss Alabama football a ton, but it is a relevant topic since the Seminoles face off against them in the season opener. I am a fan of their team, where they have some talented playmakers on offense and a defense that should be top-ten in college football.
However, I believe that the quarterback position is where the Seminoles can exploit them with the inexperience of career backup, redshirt junior quarterback Ty Simpson. He has only completed 29 passes in his three years with the Crimson Tide.
There were Alabama fans who complained about the performance of Jalen Milroe at times, but Ty Simpson was never able to take advantage of the situation, which is why I feel that Alabama's coaching staff doesn't trust him. Don't get me wrong, the wide receivers Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard, and Isaiah Horton, but you have to be able to get the football to them.
Head football coach Kalen DeLoach made the following statement about the quarterback situation at SEC media day:
Alabama's Kalen DeBoer said QB Ty Simpson would be starter if season started today. "We have 3 guys taking snaps. Ty, Austin Mack & Keelon Russell. Ty throws a catchable ball, he's smart. Great relationship w/the team. Austin Mack, he's 6-6, 235, he has a prescence about him.…

THOUGHTS
This is no surprise that Simpson could be the starter for Week 1. I know that opposing teams want to have suspense for the contest ahead so that they can be unpredictable. However, this Seminoles' defense will have new talented pieces such as James Williams, Deante McCray, Elijah Herring, Stefon Thompson, and Jeremiah Wilson that should make it difficult for him in his first start on the road.
