Florida State football is reminded all the time about being excluded from the College Football Playoff in 2023. The undefeated Seminoles, who won the ACC, were snubbed in favor of one-loss Alabama.
Today was the first anniversary of the historic event happening last year. To this day, I still cannot believe that it happened. However, ESPN has continued to show the fact that they lost the SEC and Big Ten conferences.
I cannot blame them because the ACC has continued to be a product that has been carried by three teams: Florida State, Clemson, and Miami. There have been several teams that have decided to sue the conference due to its revenue model that is far behind other conferences.
The Florida State playoff snub was an example that the conference will always be a laughing stock until things happen (the Seminoles move to the SEC or Big Ten).
During the last offseason, Miami fans tried to make jokes about the Seminoles being left out of the playoff. The two-loss Hurricane program beat Florida State, but they have losses to Georgia Tech and Syracuse. Due to their cupcake schedule, the playoff committee does not seem to deserve them enough.
The College Football Playoff committee released their rankings before conference championship weekend. Ironically enough, Miami did miss the ACC Championship Game once again, as all they had to do was beat Syracuse on the road. However, the Hurricanes do what they always do (since the early 2000s) and lose games that matter.
Two-loss Miami was ranked at No. 12, while three-loss Alabama is at No. 11. Both teams will not compete in their respective conference championship games. While it isn't necessarily Florida State news, it is funny that the Hurricanes are dealing with the same set of circumstances.
