FSU FOOTBALL FALL CAMP
Florida State football is in the middle of its fall camp practices before it takes on the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, August 30th. That is twenty-seven days away. It might seem like a long time, but you will blink once, and it will be here. Our own Kelvin Hunt wrote about redshirt freshman wide receiver Elijah Moore flashing thus far in camp, be sure to give it a read!
The program wants to turn the perception around of the 2-10 season from last year. Some doubters think that the Seminoles are "dead in the water". However, Florida State football will continue to be an unconquered spirit that will fight back from the adversity.
This will require players and coaches to step up their games to ensure that Florida State gets back to competing for conference and national championships once again.
DEFENSIVE BACK ROOM
I know that I previously wrote about defensive back Earl Little Jr., when he discussed his level of physicality. I am excited for him to show off his talents to the rest of the world, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide (whom he was formerly playing for).
Little Jr. also discussed fellow defensive back KJ Kirkland to the media on Friday night, where he made the following statement:
"KJ took a lot of steps. KJ has been in the weight room and taking that seriously. He's been in the film room with me, Jerry (Jeremiah Wilson), and all of those guys, Quindarrius Jones, Ja'Bril Rawls, Edwin Joseph. We have all been hard on each other. Getting our chemistry right because we are going to be on the back five. He took a whole bunch of steps, I would say. Coming down playing the half, in the box, you can do a lot of things with KJ. "
The redshirt freshman from Jacksonville, Florida, had a productive 2024 season, where he started nine games at safety with 46 tackles (one for loss) and two pass breakups. This is a prime example of defensive coordinator Tony White's multiple 3-3-5 scheme, using multiple defensive backs, which it should help with Kirkland's development for future years.
