FSU FOOTBALL DOMINANCE

Florida State football proved the doubters wrong as the Seminoles defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 31-17 on Saturday afternoon. This was an exciting moment for the Seminoles' fan base as they suffered through the disappointing 2-10 campaign in 2024.

The Seminoles had one goal in mind this season when they hired Gus Malzahn to be their offensive coordinator: They wanted to run the football. Florida State finished with 89.9 rushing yards per game last season, even though the coaching staff thought that it would be a strength of the squad.

Coach Malzahn had success on the ground last year, even though they finished with a 4-8 record. The Knights averaged 248.1 rushing yards per game. It was a no-brainer by Coach Norvell to bring him in.

RUN, RUN, AND RUN SOME MORE

Florida State had a game plan against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday afternoon. They wanted to continue to establish the running game early and often.

Coach Malzahn has a history of beating the Crimson Tide in his coaching career while he was the head football coach at Auburn. The Seminoles did exactly what they wanted on the ground as they had 49 carries for 230 yards and four touchdowns in the game.

It was a committee approach on the ground. Even though true freshman Ousmane Kromah was the running back with the most rushing attempts (7), everyone played an important role.

Unfortunately, head football coach Mike Norvell addressed the media on Monday afternoon and stated that redshirt senior running back Roydell Williams will be out for a period of time with an injury. The former Alabama transfer had six carries for 14 yards. While it does not seem like a ton of production, Williams was the main contributor on the pivotal 4th down and 1 run on the Seminoles' own 34-yard line to extend the drive in the fourth quarter.

With the injury to Williams, I expect a veteran such as redshirt senior Caziah Holmes to get more touches after he had two carries for seven yards and a touchdown in the game.
