Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell mentioned at ACC Kickoff that fall camp starts on Wednesday, July 30th. This is right around the corner, and we will be entering the game week of the Alabama Crimson Tide season opener before we know it.

This is an exciting time of the year when fans begin to build confidence for their team. While some of the fan base doesn't want the confidence to be conveyed like quarterback Thomas Castellanos did when he made comments about the Crimson Tide, they appreciate the faith in the players who are on the Seminoles' roster.

Norvell brought in quarterback Thomas Castellanos, offensive lineman Richie Leonard IV, defensive lineman Darrell Jackson Jr., and defensive back Earl Little Jr. to the ACC Kickoff press conference. These four players are expected to be starters on the team in 2025.

DARRELL JACKSON JR.

It was an up-and-down 2024 campaign for defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr., who some thought would be a major piece in what legendary coach Nick Saban thought was one of the best defensive lines in the country.

Jackson Jr. was reunited with his best friend and former high school teammate Joshua Farmer. You thought that it could be productive. However, the Havana, Florida, native started all twelve games last season with 32 tackles (four for loss) and 3.5 sacks.

He no longer has Farmer in the defense as he navigated over to the NFL, and defensive coordinator Tony White brings in his 3-3-5 scheme to have Jackson Jr. as the focal point in the defense.

The veteran defensive tackle had the honor of breaking the rock to end summer workouts and start fall camp. It was a massive boost for a defense that might have eight new starters in 2025. Tony White called Jackson Jr. "the best defensive tackle in the country". That is huge praise for a 6'5" and 337-pound defender who looks to make opposing offenses pay.
