Week 4 is officially over, and college football delivered another exciting week of action across the ACC. From notable upsets to straight-up beat-downs, the conference delivered, while some teams struggled to stay afloat. There is little time left to make great improvements for teams like Florida State, and perhaps not enough improvements were made in the Week 4 win over Central Arkansas.
17. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (1-3) - Last Week: 10
The Yellow Jackets' nightmare 2026 season continues to get worse after allowing the previous worst team in the ACC, Stanford, to come back and win despite a 10-point lead.
16. Syracuse Orange (1-2) - Last Week: 15
Florida State may not be the most exciting team to watch at the moment, but at least the mess in Tallahassee has not looked like the disaster in Syracuse. Quarterback Steve Angeli has four touchdowns, five interceptions, and eight sacks through three games. The defense is the only thing preventing utter chaos from ensuing on the field.
15. NC State Wolfpack (2-2) - Last Week: 14
There is a lot NC State still needs to figure out, and without any real discipline on defense, Louisville could seriously run up the score next week.
14. Boston College Eagles (2-2) - Last Week: 13
The Eagles have certainly proved at this point that they have a capable defense, but the issue is that there is no offense present. Quarterback Mason McKenzie leads the team in passing and rushing at the moment, but five interceptions and nine sacks have kept the production at a minimum. Even just a small improvement on offense would turn Boston College into a more serious ACC competitor.
13. Florida State Seminoles (2-2) - Last Week: 16
The Seminoles improved to 2-2 during Week 4 with a win over Central Arkansas, and while the win is nice, the way Florida State got to the result is not. Quarterback Ashton Daniels and the offensive line struggled at times, causing multiple stalled drives, while the defense had some shining moments. A win is a win, but Norvell needs far more than just a 34-point performance against an FCS program, especially after posting 36 points against Alabama.
Bumping Florida State up a few spots despite the uneventful win may seem odd, but a good portion of the ACC has fallen behind. Georgia Tech and Syracuse both entered the season with high hopes, but the results have simply not been there. Boston College and NC State are vying for better rankings, but Florida State has been better than both teams in some areas.
The win over Central Arkansas should not be the primary takeaway from Week 4, but rather the takeaway should involve the current power dynamic in the ACC. Wake Forest upset Louisville, Georgia Tech is at the bottom, and Virginia Tech could be a serious competitor again. The rest of the conference behind Miami is pretty open, and Florida State is benefiting from that at the moment, but that can change quickly with Virginia, Louisville, Miami, and Clemson looming.
12. Stanford Cardinal (2-2) - Last Week: 17
Stanford proved against Georgia Tech that this team has some fire, but the question is going to be whether or not the Cardinal can continue to replicate the same performance on offense.
11. North Carolina Tar Heels (2-1) - Last Week: 12
A week off was needed for North Carolina after the staff drama, a loss to Clemson, and growing injury issues.
10. Cal Golden Bears (2-2) - Last Week: 7
It has been a tale of two seasons for quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, with two touchdowns and four interceptions in losses and five touchdowns in wins.
9. Virginia Cavaliers (3-1) - Last Week: 6
The Cavaliers looked like a very serious contender in the ACC early, but now the team needs to prove themselves against after losing to West Virginia. Florida State will offer an intriguing challenge that could make-or-break the season.
8. SMU Mustangs (3-1) - Last Week: 8
The win over Missouri State is nice to see, but is it even possible for the Mustangs to have won that game less convincingly?
7. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (3-1) - Last Week: 9
Nobody ever truly thought Wake Forest could take down Miami, but stopping a very solid Louisville team proves the Demon Deacons are not here to play in 2026.
6. Louisville Cardinals (2-2) - Last Week: 2
It is a big drop for the Cardinals, but quarterback Lincoln Kienholz finally came back down to earth with an interception and four sacks. Wake Forest could be a serious team this season, but it is no coincidence that the Cardinals have allowed seven sacks in losses and none in wins this season.
5. Clemson Tigers (3-1) - Last Week: 11
With LSU putting a hurting on multiple strong teams now, the loss does not look quite as bad for Clemson, but it still was not a good look. With a huge battle for the second spot in the ACC raging on, Clemson could be the team that sneaks up to the top.
4. Virginia Tech Hokies (4-0) - Last Week: 5
So far, James Franklin is making the one-year turnaround with Virginia Tech look easy, but a looming clash with Pitt could truly decide the direction in which the team will go.
3. Pitt Panthers (4-0) - Last Week: 4
Offense has come incredibly easy at times for Pitt, with two 50-point games already, but 37 points scored against power conference opponents could be an issue.
2. Duke Blue Devils (4-0) - Last Week: 3
The Blue Devils truly look like a serious team this season, and taking down the Miami Hurricanes is becoming more and more possible as the weeks go by.
1. Miami Hurricanes (4-0) - Last Week: 1
Until the Hurricanes lose, the top spot in the conference is going to be comfortably held down.
