Florida State football has been in the headlines in the wrong way over the past couple of years, from losing to an FCS opponent Jacksonville State, losing former five-star prospect Travis Hunter to Jackson State, getting snubbed from the College Football Playoff, and then having a 2-10 season in 2024.

The Travis Hunter de-commitment and signing to Jackson State on Early Signing Day still stings amongst the fan base. While I know that individuals have to move on, the former five-star prospect ended up being a superstar and a Heisman Trophy winner with the Colorado Buffaloes.

The Jacksonville Jaguars held the 5th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the thought process was that they might go after an offensive lineman. However, the opportunity presented itself after the Cleveland Browns decided not to pursue Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the second pick.

This opened up the door for the Jaguars to trade up in the draft. The Browns traded the second overall pick as well as the 104th overall pick and 200th overall pick in exchange for the Jaguars' fifth overall pick, along with the 36th overall, 126th overall, and a first-round pick in the 2026 draft.

This was a ton of ammunition for the Jaguars to give up, but they felt like the superstar wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter was well worth it. I don't blame them, as some individuals feel like he is the best player in the entire draft.

It has to make Florida State football fans imagine what if. Honestly, I am confident that Coach Norvell can get the Seminoles back on track, and there is a player that is bigger than the brand, but I wish that Florida State were able to hang on to the talented player and reap the benefits of watching him play in the garnet and gold.

Nonetheless, I am excited for all of the Seminole fan base who are Jacksonville Jaguars fans.
