FSU FOOTBALL FALL CAMP
Florida State football is conducting its fall camp practices today. The Seminoles are looking to turn the narrative around after their 2-10 season from a year ago.
There probably isn't one individual happier than head football coach Mike Norvell to have last season be in the trash. It seems to be different in Tallahassee, as quarterback Thomas Castellanos is quoted that "Nick Saban can't save them" when referring to the Crimson Tide for its season opener.
This is a bold statement as Florida State takes on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday, August 30th at 3:30 PM EST on ABC.
TIGHT END ROOM IS LOADED
Fall camp is a chance to see new developments in the position groups as the players continue to grow and build into their new roles. One aspect last year that was a bit surprising was that freshman Amaree Williams, who reclassified from the 2025 recruiting cycle to 2024, switched from defensive end to tight end. I didn't know how much he would play, but he had 71 yards and two touchdowns in 2024.
Williams was thought to switch back to defensive end (and play a small amount of tight end) since the Seminoles had pieces such as Landen Thomas, Randy Pittman Jr., Chase Loftin, and Markeston Douglas in the room. However, the North Palm Beach native was seen primarily at tight end on the first day of fall camp.
One other interesting thing is that offensive lineman Bryson Estes is now listed as an offensive lineman/tight end on the Seminoles' official roster. Estes is a redshirt senior who has not seen much playing time with the program, but has stuck around.
He lost weight, and he is now 269 pounds. I wonder if this is Estes's last attempt to play college football before he prepares for life after his football career. I am hoping for the best for the Georgia native as he gets his last opportunity in the Garnet and Gold.
