Florida State men's basketball had been going through a rough patch recently where it had lost four of their last five games. Luckily, the program had beaten a Notre Dame squad at home, who looked hopeless.
Things were getting difficult as the Seminoles fan base wondered if the men's basketball team was going to play hard for head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton as this is going to be his last season in Tallahassee.
Florida State's basketball team headed on the road to take on a Wake Forest Demon Deacons squad that entered the matchup with an 18-6 record (10-3 in conference). The Demon Deacons were favored by at least five points in most sports betting networks.
It did not look good early on for the Seminoles as they trailed by a score of 35-21 at halftime. Florida State was thought to have momentum early on in the first half with an advantage of 9-2, but then Wake Forest started to put the pressure on.
It looked like it was going to end poorly when the Seminoles were trailing by a score of 61-45 with 8:22 left in the second half. However, Florida State clawed back in the matchup and ensured that the Demon Deacons had to work for everything on the offensive end.
Florida State miraculously won the game by a score of 72-70. It was not perfect by any means, but the leading scorers, Jamir Watkins (15), Taylor Bol Bowen (15), and Malique Ewin (14), kept the Seminoles in the matchup.
The guard play by Wake Forest's Cameron Hildreth (22 points) and Hunter Sallis (20 points) was impressive, but the Seminoles weathered the storm and came out victorious. They limited Wake Forest to shooting just 6 of 17 from three-point range.
Florida State now has a 15-9 overall record (6-7 in conference). The Seminoles will now take on the ranked Clemson Tigers at home on Saturday, February 15th, at noon EST on the CW Network.
