The College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night. Florida State is not included in there since they have limped to a 2-9 record and have one more game versus their arch-rival Florida Gators.

It is just a consolation prize at this moment where Seminole fans are able to have a good taste in its mouth before it faces off against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the newly-renovated Doak Campbell Stadium.

You might ask the following: "Why am I writing about the College Football Playoff rankings?"

Well, if you must insist on asking, I believe this 100% pertains to the current state of Florida State football. While I know that they are struggling this season, they have wanted to gain respect from the College Football Playoff committee.

Even in the first-ever year of the rankings, when the Seminoles were undefeated and were defending national champions from the 2013 campaign, the committee decided to put them at No. 3 behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon.

Not to mention that Florida State was unforgivably let out of the "invitational" last season after going undefeated in favor of a one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide team. The major excuses were that "Jordan Travis was hurt" and "they would not beat Alabama with the squad they had."

The truth of the matter was that Oklahoma was a 14.5-point underdog to Alabama this past Saturday and defeated them by a score of 24-3. This was the same Sooners team that lost four out of their last five games.

I am convinced that the College Football Playoff committee will do everything in its power to include the SEC powerhouse in the final bracket (without a conference championship). As it relates to Florida State, I believe that the disappointment (even when the Seminoles are good) will continue to happen until they get out of the conference.

While I realize that the ACC might get two teams into the playoff (maybe three), it still does not excuse the fact that the favoritism is based around the SEC and Big Ten. The conference itself in the ACC will not be sustainable enough to last through the Grant of Rights deal that expires in 2036.
