Crank up the Warchant because Florida State basketball got another win on Saturday afternoon as the Seminoles defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by a score of 91-78.
Florida State basketball now has a record of 13-6 (4-3 in conference) where they have won six of their last eight games. Head basketball coach Leonard Hamilton seems to have his squad clicking on all cylinders.
Florida State is now 8-2 in the friendly confines of the Tucker Center. The Seminoles were favored by 9.5 points, but it was good to see the team continue to defeat squads that they should beat. There is no such thing as a bad win in college basketball.
The Seminoles had a great first half where they were performing well offensively and led by a score of 37-24 at halftime. However, the Yellow Jackets stormed back in the second half where they were only down 70-66 with 5:09 left in the game.
That is what makes this Seminoles' squad different in 2025 is that the dynamic duo of Jamir Watkins and Malique Ewin came to play where they had 34 combined points. Plus, it helps when forward Taylor Bol Bowen contributed 20 points.
I realize that Florida State needs to get more Quadrant 1 wins to make it to the NCAA Tournament, but the Seminoles have to focus on winning one game at a time. Florida State has an important road trip on the west coast as they take on California on Wednesday and Stanford on Saturday. Then the Seminoles will return home to play Virginia Tech on January 29th.
With that being said, Florida State has to continue its aggression on the defensive end and be able to knock down perimeter shots.
