No. 8 Florida State suffered its first loss of the season against Virginia in what was a heartbreaking double overtime loss. The biggest sting of it all was the rush of fans on the field within a second of quarterback Thomas Castellanos getting picked off in the end zone on fourth down to end the game.

That field storming is almost certainly going to cost Virginia a huge load of money in a fine, especially because Florida State players or coaches had yet to leave the field, heck, they had yet to leave the end zone. Luckily, a coach was there to walk Castellanos off the field and into the locker room, but not before he was taunted quite a bit on his way out.

There was even on Virginia fan who ran by filming Castellanos while giving him the middle finger. Honestly, it is it was a rude move by the fan, but something Florida State fans can take pride in is that Castellanos did not react even a little bit; he held his cool and decided to take the high road.

If Castellanos had reacted by shoving the guy, maybe even punching him, or even just getting into a verbal altercation, it would have looked worse on the young quarterback, and maybe even resulted in a suspension. However, Castellanos was able to just keep his cool, take the loss on the chin, and walk off the field.

The loss against Virginia certainly hurts, but it does not completely take the Seminoles out of College Football Playoff contention. With the 12-team playoff, one or two losses can still get a team in. The biggest way Florida State can help its resume, however, is with a win next week.

Next week, Florida State is set to take on No. 2 Miami in what will be the biggest game in the ACC so far this season. The Seminoles could really use that win because without it, they have to have a near-perfect rest of the season to stay in contention.
