FSU football coaches have been working hard to address roster needs through the transfer portal. The Noles have added five additions from the transfer portal, including quarterback Thomas Castellanos.
FSU has added one major target on the offensive line and still has more work to do there. One of the other major areas of need is at wide receiver and tight end. FSU lost several players from those two areas via the transfer portal or players exhausting eligibility.
That was a good thing because most of those players have not and will not be impact players for the Noles. However, FSU must fill those spots with high-caliber players.
A major target is USC transfer WR Duce Robinson, a legacy player from the 2022 recruiting cycle. Robinson elected to sign with USC after high school and had two productive years before deciding to enter the transfer portal after the 2024 season.
He fits the mold that FSU wants, a big-bodied wide receiver who's a mismatch in one-on-one coverage. Thomas Castellanos knows he needs playmakers to join him in Tallahassee and is accompanying Robinson during his visit on Friday.
Some people are not convinced Castellanos can attract top playmakers to play with him. However, I think it's a good sign he recognizes he needs big-time playmakers to join him and is willing to form a rapport with Robinson while on campus. According to Robinson's dad, the two have spoken on the phone prior to Duce visited campus on Friday.
FSU has seen a few targets visit campus and sign elsewhere after leaving. If they convince Robinson to come home as a Nole legacy? It would be a major win for the new staff.
