LOSS COULD BE GOOD FOR FSU
Florida State football took its first loss of the 2025 season, where the Seminoles were defeated by the Virginia Cavaliers in double overtime by a score of 46-38. It doesn't make matters any better as they welcome the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes into Tallahassee for a ranked matchup.
This will be for all the bragging rights. The last meeting didn't go the Seminoles' way against the Hurricanes, as they lost by a score of 36-14. Heck, the entire 2024 season was a train wreck for Florida State.
Head football coach Mike Norvell wants to show that the same potential that it showed when it won against Alabama in the season opener. The attention is off his program, and they are now in the "underdog role".
WHO CAN BE THE SPARK ON OFFENSE?
It is obvious that the fan base wants to have answers on Saturday after the defense underperformed during the Virginia game, but Florida State has to put points on the scoreboard to defeat the Hurricanes in the rivalry showdown.
Individuals can point fingers at a variety of players and coaches for the loss, but wide receiver Duce Robinson certainly put his best foot forward. Even though the ACC officiating crew cost him a touchdown in overtime, the former USC transfer had himself a masterful performance.
Robinson is the Seminoles' leading receiver with 17 receptions for 346 yards and three touchdowns through four games. His statistics were helped by his performances against East Texas A&M and Virginia, where he had a combined 14 catches for 320 yards and three touchdowns.
If the trend serves as an example, Robinson will not perform well against Miami. However, the coaching staff needs him to be consistent early and often. This isn't suggesting that quarterback Thomas Castellanos needs to try and sling the football all over the place, but the signal-caller needs to keep the opposing defense honest.
