FSU FOOTBALL
Florida State football finally got its first conference victory since September 21, 2024. What a roller coaster ride that it has been throughout the last 404 days. However, it is nice to see the program still battling through the highest level of adversity.
This isn't a situation where I like to discuss moral victories, but they could have easily packed in like the Clemson Tigers (see ya next week, Dabo). However, head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad fought through the boo-fest in Tallahassee the day after Halloween.
Florida State defeated Wake Forest by a score of 42-7, and it has been a moment since we had witness a beat down like that to a Power Four team. This could be just the confidence builder that the Seminoles needed.
FEED SAM SINGLETON JR.
Establishing the ground game was something that I mentioned in my keys to victory against Wake Forest earlier in the week. This was not a surprise since offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn likes to focus on for his unit. Florida State ranks in the top-five in rushing yards per game.
However, what surprised me the most is that it wasn't Gavin Sawchuk, Ousmane Kromah, or even Caziah Holmes, that led the Seminoles in rushing yards for the Wake Forest game.
It was Samuel Singleton Jr.
The Jacksonville, Florida, native had himself a great performance, where he ran like he got shot out of a cannon. Singleton Jr. finished with 14 carries for 91 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Wake Forest had no answer to contain him.
Quarterback Thomas Castellanos mentioned in the post-game presser that we (fans, media, and individuals in general) should be seeing more of Singleton Jr. in the future. He also stated that the former four-star prospect had been working extremely hard in practice over the last few weeks.
It was a pleasant surprise on Homecoming, but Seminole fans know that rushing yards could be difficult to come by against Clemson on the road. However, Singleton Jr. will just have to have the same intensity that he possessed against Wake Forest.
It is 'New November'!
