THE BIG GAME
Florida State football has a huge matchup against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday at 7:30 PM EST in Doak Campbell Stadium. The atmosphere will be electric as this fan base will be cheering their team to victory as the Seminoles get back in the win column.
Florida State lost to Virginia in double overtime on the road last Friday. The Seminoles were supposed to be the site of College GameDay, but the program missed the opportunity to host it. However, it isn't the end of the world, as Florida State will be looking to prove the doubters wrong.
It is Florida State-Miami, so there shouldn't be any extraordinary speeches needed to get hype for the matchup. The Hurricanes are favored by 4.5 points on the road, so the task will be to perform at a high level.
STOP THE PASSING ATTACK
Miami quarterback Carson Beck has been someone that has been around the game of football for quite a while. However, Beck welcomes new pass catchers this season. Wide receiver Malachi Toney has been dangerous with opposing defenses, as he has recorded 22 receptions for 268 yards and one touchdown.
Then, they also have wide receiver CJ Daniels, who has 18 catches for 191 yards and three touchdowns. Florida State's defense will be tested on Saturday. The same was said during the Alabama game as well, and the Seminoles were prepared for what was to come.
Defensive backs Earl Little Jr., Edwin Joseph, Jerry Wilson, and Ja'Bril Rawls will have to be prepared to defend downfield. The main concerns for the defense last week were the front seven and the lack of pass rush. If Florida State wants to be successful, defensive coordinator Tony White will have to slow down Miami's passing attack.
Toney is a good pass catcher in the conference, and the Seminoles will focus on slowing him down. If safety Ashlynd Barker doesn't get the chance to participate in the game, Earl Little Jr. and Edwin Joseph will have to play with similar aggression to ensure that Beck isn't getting the looks that he wants.
