HIGH ON DANZY
Florida State redshirt freshman wide receiver Micahi Danzy is someone that I have discussed about often as someone who I believe the coaching staff needs to give him the football early and often during the 2025 season.
The pass catcher is a track star for the university when he isn't playing the game of football. He collected his first ACC gold medal, where he ran a school-record 44.38 time in the 400-meter dash.
As someone pointed out on social media in the comments that I noticed, the time of 44.38 would've placed sixth at the Olympic Games. That is a very fast time that many individuals cannot comprehend until they see Danzy run it.
RB POSITION OUTLOOK
The Tallahassee native saw a position change this offseason. I thought the position change was needed because the running back group was crowded with the acquisition of Oklahoma transfer Gavin Sawchuk and four-star signee Ousmane Kromah.
It is also relevant to mention that the Seminoles have veterans such as Roydell Williams, Caziah Holmes, and Samuel Singleton Jr. in the group, along with youngster Kam Davis.
The move to wide receiver made sense, given that Danzy can be utilized more on the outside and in the slot. Plus, he can still be a mismatch nightmare if the coaching staff wanted to line up in the backfield versus a slower safety or linebacker.
COACHING STAFF EXPECTATIONS
Overall, we saw the youngster have the wheel route attempt versus Clemson, where he dropped the opportunity that would've been a long yardage gain. However, he was able to redeem himself in the year against Charleston Southern. That shows how much the coaching staff has faith in him.
I think this Gus Malzahn offense will primarily focus on the inside run game, but they will want to surprise the opposing defenses by taking downfield shots. As a result, Danzy as well as speedster Jaylin Lucas could be pivotal pieces in putting points on the scoreboard in 2025 if the defenses aren't ready.
