This is surprising. ESPN analyst believes that FSU football's ranking shouldn't drop

I am shocked by the love for FSU by this ESPN employee.

FSU FOOTBALL DISASTER SITUATION

Florida State suffered its first loss of the 2025 season against the Virginia Cavaliers in double overtime by a score of 46-38. It was a disappointing showing from the Seminoles as the fan base wanted to see an undefeated matchup against arch-rival Miami.

Nonetheless, Doak Campbell Stadium at night will be electric for the Hurricanes, who are used to playing in front of 5,000 fans (kidding Miami fans... relax). College GameDay will blame the Seminoles' loss to Virginia on why they headed to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-Vanderbilt matchup.

Personally, fans don't care about GameDay coming to Tallahassee, but the attention from the general population would have been nice to have.

FSU AP POLL RANKING

Florida State football is now No. 18 in the updated AP Poll. They were originally No. 8 the previous week against the Cavaliers. Alabama, the team that the Seminoles beat in the opener, is at No. 10 now after beating Georgia on the road.

ESPN's Heather Dinich didn't seem to like that differential between the two teams that played in the season opener, as she stated the following:

"It is absurd that Florida State dropped ten spots in the AP Poll after losing in double overtime on the road to a very good Virginia team because, last time I checked, Florida State beat this Alabama that went on the road to beat Georgia. The selection committee cares about head-to-head results."

Dinich has had a history of disliking Florida State in the past, but it is nice to see individuals such as her and even ESPN's Rece Davis showing respect to the Seminoles. Let's face it, Florida State isn't a perfect product, and they could lose to Miami this Saturday (I hope not). They are still light years ahead of where they were in 2024, with only two wins.
