FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Florida State football's recruiting for the 2026 cycle is listed as the 14th-best, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles were red-hot in June and early July, but that momentum started to fade as they entered the latter into July.

The Seminoles received good news in recruiting lately as four-star linebacker Izayia Williams pledged to Florida State. I know that some fans show skepticism since Williams has committed to five different schools in his recruitment, which included the Seminoles twice.

However, the fan base cannot deny that his talents must be worth the headache. I know that we have already highlighted the linebacker enough, and I am not fully confident that he will sign with Florida State in December (we will see).

CARRINGTON COMMITTED ELSEWHERE

Florida State had a bad update previously in the week as three-star defensive end James "Tank" Carrington backed off of his pledge to the Seminoles. This was tough to see as Florida State's coaching staff should always want to welcome talented prospects on the offensive and defensive trenches.

Carrington was a top prospect at one time. He had a very productive 2023 season with 33 tackles (22 for loss) and 15 sacks. Then, the defensive lineman followed it up in 2024 with 33 tackles (14 for loss) and nine sacks.

I liked the take. This is not a situation where I highlight a prospect and say that I don't like their skill set after they de-commit from Florida State. However, you would have to think that the incident had to be NIL related since the Seminoles have not played a snap of football yet.

Three-star defensive end James Carrington announced on Saturday that he would be committing to Oklahoma.

I hope that defensive line coach Terrance Knighton has a plan in place for picking up a prospect such as four-star Kamron Wilson (Syracuse commit) and/or three-star Gustaf Henriks Ras (uncommitted). I cannot wait for the fan base to change their tune about Coach Knighton for Carrington committing to Oklahoma when they continue to stack talent at the position.
