The phone calls have started for Mike Norvell's job security at Florida State

This might be it for head football coach Mike Norvell.

FSU FOOTBALL

Words cannot describe how embarrassing the loss to Stanford was last night. This is not the same Florida State football program that has a standard of competing for conference and national championships. This is a Seminoles squad that is 5-15 in its last 20 games.

As I watched the end of the game unfold at 2 AM, the thought of the Mike Norvell experience ending in Tallahassee was at the forefront. If he hadn't been given a contract extension in the 2023 offseason, it probably would have been done sooner.

Nonetheless, I don't want to be sour grapes in the situation. This is a situation where I know that the fan base wants Florida State football to get back to where it belongs. In this current state, this is not the standard of this proud university.

MIKE NORVELL FIRING?

At the time I am making this article, Norvell is still employed at Florida State. The Seminoles have a bye week this week before facing off against Wake Forest at home the following week (Doak Campbell Stadium could be a ghost town).

On3 made a report this morning that Florida State decision makers are holding informal phone calls to discuss the future of Mike Norvell.

With that said, these phone calls shouldn't have been happening just this morning. The Pittsburgh loss was unexcusable enough to allow a true freshman quarterback, Mason Heintschul, to come into Doak Campbell Stadium and have 400 total yards.

This was an ongoing issue ever since the Seminoles extended his contract after the Alabama Crimson Tide were interested in him after the legendary Nick Saban retired. The end of Jimbo Fisher, the inconsistencies of Willie Taggart, and the disorganization of Mike Norvell... When will this football program have something go their way?

With that said, we at ChopChat will continue to bring insightful content on Florida State athletics. Here's to better days ahead...
