FSU FOOTBALL IS IN A BRAWL
Florida State football is being tested against the Virginia Cavaliers on the road. The Cavaliers have come to play. It is frustrating to see the Seminoles make critical and costly mistakes. However, it is a tied ball game at half as both teams have battled through adversity.
The Seminoles have stuck to their guns of running the football, as they have 156 rushing yards at the half. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn loves to revolve his unit around the ability to be aggressive in the ground game.
Running back Gavin Sawchuk has had 12 carries for 63 yards and one touchdown. However, quarterback Thomas Castellanos has found his favorite playmaker in the passing game in big-bodied Duce Robinson.
DUCE ROBINSON
The Seminole faithful were wondering when wide receiver Duce Robinson would emerge as a serious pass catcher after he was shut out by Alabama and Kent State, totaling three receptions for 26 yards. It was a matter of time before the 6'6" wide receiver got it going.
The East Texas A&M Lions couldn't do anything with Robinson, though, as he had five catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Apparently, Virginia cannot stop him either, as Robinson has already accumulated five receptions for 100 yards.
Castellanos has found his safety blanket in Robinson. The referees screwed him out of another catch as they charged him with an offensive pass interference penalty. Nonetheless, the Seminoles' offense has to put the pressure on Virginia in the second half, and it starts and ends with the former USC wide receiver transfer.
