TIME TO HIT THE RESET BUTTON
Florida State football is looking to put behind its 2-10 season from a year ago. The offense in 2024 was abysmal, as it only mustered to put up 15.2 points per game. Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that massive changes had to be made in the offseason to correct the issues.
The Seminoles decided to add talented transfers such as quarterback Thomas Castellanos and wide receiver Duce Robinson. The dynamic duo has built the connection that could make them a viable threat in the conference this year.
Both Castellanos and Robinson have been close friends on and off the field. The Seminoles' football severely limited its media access this offseason to focus on bettering the product on the field. However, Florida State still releases "The Climb" videos, which give individuals insight into the program.
On the latest episode, the big-bodied playmaker discussed the skill set of the dual-threat signal-caller.
"He's a natural playmaker. He's one of the most athletic guys on this team. He makes some throws where it puts your hands on your head, and you ask: How can he do this? You don't see that from many guys who are just pocket passers, much less guys who can create like he can. "Robinson on Castellanos
THOUGHTS
I want to start off by stating that I know the fan base is tired of seeing the hype in the preseason and then getting disappointed when they don't live up to expectations.
However, I do feel like Castellanos is a perfect match for what the offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn wants to do in his scheme. The fan base looks like it wants to silence anything related to the former UCF and Boston College quarterback after his comments about Alabama.
This will be an interesting start to the 2025 season because after the Crimson Tide season opener, Castellanos has a chance to impress since the Seminoles have contests versus East Texas A&M, Kent State, and Virginia before facing Miami.
This is wishful thinking that the Castellanos-Robinson connection will be deadly in third-down situations and red-zone opportunities.
