FSU WIDE RECEIVER PURSUIT
Florida State football's coaching staff is trying to gain momentum after having several highly-touted prospects on campus this past weekend. The Seminoles are sitting outside the top 20 in the 2026 recruiting rankings.
This is not something that the Seminoles' fan base is excited about since the expectation is to succeed at a high level and accomplish a top-ten class. However, that has not been accomplished during Mike Norvell's tenure at Florida State.
Norvell added several new assistant coaches to the staff this past offseason. One move that I am intrigued to see is wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr., who used to be with the UCF Knights.
TALENTED PASS CATCHER INTERESTED?
Florida State already has two highly-touted prospects committed at the wide receiver position in four-star recruits Efrem White and Darryon Williams. White is trending towards the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Williams to the Florida Gators.
In this scenario, I thought it would be beneficial to have talented options at the position in case either wide receiver went anywhere. Originally, I believed that four-star Auburn wide receiver commit Devin Carter could be in heavy consideration for flipping back to Florida State after being pledged to the program previously.
On Monday, On3's Steve Wiltfong put in an expert prediction in favor of Florida State for Class of 2026 four-star wide receiver target Brandon Bennett from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who came on an official visit with the Seminoles this past weekend.
Bennett recorded 24 receptions for 509 yards and seven touchdowns during his junior season. The talented pass catcher had over 20+ yards per catch. Coach Tim Harris Jr. has not secured his wide receiver this cycle, but this could be an opportunity to get a talented prospect in Garnet and Gold.
