FSU FOOTBALL VERSUS MIAMI
Florida State will be playing Miami on Saturday, October 4th, at 7:30 PM EST in Doak Campbell Stadium. Some individuals thought this matchup would be hosting the College GameDay show, but it ruined its opportunity.
It's Florida State and Miami, though. These two teams despise each other. The game isn't losing its luster, even with the Seminoles losing to Virginia on the road in double overtime by a score of 46-38.
OFFENSES WILL SCORE?
Florida State's defense was scrutinized after the Seminoles didn't do a good enough job of wrapping up Virginia's offensive players. The weather could see some rain early in the game, which makes things dicey for their tackling efforts.
Miami could be able to score points with its rushing attack of Mark Fletcher Jr. and Charmar Brown. Plus, quarterback Carson Beck has been there and done that with his collegiate career.
This could allow the Hurricanes to score early, with Florida State trying to be too aggressive and set the tone to show its physicality. If Miami takes a lead, this could allow the Seminoles' offense to catch fire. The Hurricanes acquired seven new defensive backs this offseason, and that could be disastrous when they are tasked with guarding wide receiver Duce Robinson.
Even though it wasn't primarily the offense's fault that the Seminoles lost to Virginia, this could be a situation where signal-caller Thomas Castellanos will try to perform at a high level to help his defense out.
DraftKings Sportsbook has a 24.5-point team total for the Seminoles, which I think should be a doable feat for Florida State to accomplish. Fans need to make sure that Coach Malzahn doesn't attempt run-pass options on the goal line, and instead have power runs.
This is an opportunity for Florida State's offense to get going, plus this seems like a game where the special teams could be in line for some big plays.
