Social media trolls are having fun discussing this former Seminole basketball player

Yikes... this doesn't look good.

MALIK BEASLEY SITUATION

Florida State's basketball team had some tremendous success under former legendary coach Leonard Hamilton. Even though Hamilton is no longer coaching in Tallahassee, you have to give him credit for bringing in several talented players.

One former star at Florida State is trending on social media for all the wrong reasons as ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley is being investigated for gambling on NBA games and prop bets.

Beasley had an exceptional 2024-2025 season with the Pistons, where he averaged 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. He finished his final game of the NBA First Round versus the Knicks with 20 points.

During the 2015-2016 season with Florida State, Beasley recorded 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game as he was drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the 19th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The Seminoles made it to the NIT that year and lost to Valparaiso by a score of 81-69.

Knicks guard Jalen Brunson hit a three-point shot to give them a 116-113 lead with four seconds left. However, on the next possession, Beasley was able to get an open look on the right wing, and the basketball slipped out of his hands when he was getting ready to catch and shoot.

While I am not suggesting that Beasley did violate any rules with gambling, fans on social media are letting him have it with all of the evidence.

FANS REACT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

In all seriousness, I wonder how the situation will play out. The former Florida State guard has been a consistent piece in the league that shooting 39% from the three-point line. I come from the side of "innocent before proven guilty" in this matter because we don't have the surrounding facts.

However, it will be something to monitor for all individuals who care about the game of basketball. The league seems to be cracking down on those who participate in gambling to keep the integrity of the sport.
