FSU is likely done in the transfer portal after adding 16 players in the Winter Portal window and seven more in the Spring Portal window for 23 new players.
FSU fans are apathetic toward recruiting, and it doesn't help when some media attempt to downplay some of the additions. Will FSU compete for a National Title in 2025?
It's not likely, nor will they compete for an ACC title, but they have enough talent on the roster to win at least eight games.
They have the potential to win nine with good injury luck and maybe 1 to 2 teams on the schedule not playing up to everyone's expectations (Miami, cough).
Of the 23 players FSU added via the transfer portal, I'd wager 16-17 will play starter reps or potentially significant reps in 2025. That's like the equivalent of a 74 percent blue-chip ratio(because these guys will actually play). That tells me it's one of the better transfer portal classes. FSU tried to kill two birds with one stone by grabbing a handful of players with an eye toward the future and to build depth since they lost over 30+ players to the portal from last year's team.

Recruiting sites have yet to figure out how to rank transfer players appropriately. For instance, there's no reason 247Sports should have Patrick Payton with a 95 ranking based on what he did last year.
The way On3 ranks makes no sense because how does former walk-on Trever Jackson have the same ranking as Gavin Sawchuk when Jackson has played like two snaps in his entire college career?
Although the player rankings are not perfect, they do reflect FSU having arguably the best transfer portal class in the ACC. The per-player average ranking is higher with the incoming players than those departing. FSU has at least one, maybe two blue-chip freshmen arriving in a few weeks who'll play in 2025.
For all of the grief the new staff has gotten about recruiting, they've improved the roster in some key areas via the transfer portal, reminiscent of what FSU did before the 2022 season. I'm not sure we'll replicate that level of success, but FSU should have marked improvement over a year ago with an improved roster and better coordinators.
