Florida State football did not have the season it wanted in 2024 as it had a 2-10 record. This was surprising because the Seminoles had a productive 2023 campaign where it finished with an undefeated regular season and conference championship.
However, the season left a sour taste in various individuals' mouths as the College Football Playoff committee decided to leave out an undefeated Seminoles squad for a one-loss Alabama team.
This could've partially led to the downward spiral of the program in 2024. With that said, it has not all a lost cause for head football coach Mike Norvell as he was able to make major changes to the coaching staff.
There is a portion of the fan base that was and still is hesitant about the coaching staff's ability to recruit high school talent. The transfer portal is being utilized across the country, which is known but it felt by some individuals that the program depended on it too much instead of developing in-house.
It was encouraging that the Seminoles finished in 18th to close out the 2025 recruiting cycle, but the fan base wants to see the program in the top ten. 2025 is great and all, but what about the 2026 version where the new coaching staff can flex its recruiting muscles?
Florida State football ranks 14th-best in the country with eight commitments in the fold, according to 2026 247Sports Composite rankings. There are still many holes to fill as the Early Signing Period will not occur until December.
There have already been recruiting whiffs with four-star quarterback commit Brady Smigiel backing off of his pledge and three-star defensive end target Kamron Wilson committing to Syracuse.
Florida State has had three commitments in the calendar year with 2026 prospects such as four-star running back Amari Thomas, three-star interior offensive lineman Michael Ionata, and three-star linebacker Karon Maycock. The fan base wants to see more from the coaching staff, but there has been some movement with the 2027 prospects.
The Seminoles just got a commitment on Tuesday afternoon as Class of 2027 four-star cornerback Bryce Williams from Western High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Williams is on a visit today at Florida State.

This is now the third commitment in the 2027 class for Florida State in the last week. The Seminoles seem to be loading up on talented prospects as they rank fourth in the class rankings according to the 247Sports Composite.
I know there will be a huge portion of the fan base that might not show any interest since it is so far out from when they sign. However, I always get excited for anyone who says yes to committing, playing, or even cheering for the Seminoles.
I am not worried at all about the Seminoles getting 2027 recruits. This isn't something to replace the lack of pledges from the 2026 recruits. The coaching staff understands that there are at least thirteen spots that will be filled (maybe more).
Hopefully, Williams sticks through his commitment and signs with Florida State in the end. It is always great to lure talented recruits to Tallahassee.
