Florida State football is taking on the arch-rival Florida Gators in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium at 7 PM EST on ESPN. This season has been an absolute disaster for the Seminoles as they look to end their year with a 3-9 record.
The Gators are coming in high after huge back-to-back victories over LSU and Ole Miss. Their recruiting efforts have also been exceptional, with flipping commitments from Florida State such as quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., running back Byron Louis, and offensive lineman Daniel Pierre-Louis.
I never thought that head football coach Billy Napier would have survived the difficult November slate. However, I was wrong; the Seminoles are trending negatively while the Gators are soaring.
That said, this is a rivalry matchup where anything is possible. Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell has two straight victories over Florida.
I won't lie, I despise Florida and the color orange. I come out of the womb disliking the Gators. I was always taught right and wrong between Florida State and Florida. This seems like a spotty where those pesky Florida fans are getting cocky.
It is worth mentioning that this will be quarterback DJ Lagway's first true road environment. Norvell has nothing to lose as he prepares to throw the whole kitchen sink to spring an upset over their rival. I think Luke Kromenhoek can build success.
While I know that I might be in the minority, as opposed to my fellow ChopChat staff writer, I believe that Florida State will succeed in running the football versus a Gators' defense that ranks 87th in rushing yards allowed. I believe that this could be a much-needed win for Florida State to build some momentum for the offseason.
