FSU FOOTBALL LOSES
Florida State football has been defeated by Stanford by a score of 20-13. This was a horrible performance by the program, where the Seminoles are now in jeopardy of having six losing seasons in eight years.
The fan base is in limbo with the whole situation. Everyone had to endure the Christmas tree saga from Jimbo Fisher, the uncertainty of Willie Taggart, and then the roller coaster ride of Mike Norvell (if he is indeed fired).
The Stanford game is a reminder that Florida State fans deserve so much better. On the other hand, this program cannot be like the arch-rival Florida Gators, where they are hiring and firing coaches every year.
HEARTBREAKING STUFF
To be honest, it is remarkable that I had to endure what transpired on Saturday night. Some individuals probably fell asleep before the game finished because they were already checked out of the Seminoles and the 2025 season.
Misery loves company, as I watched every snap where I thought I was in a fever dream, and I would wake up with Florida State being up by multiple scores. However, I was quickly reminded that this is the reality of the situation.
The fourth quarter was a blur, where the play by wide receiver Micahi Danzy was incredible, where he snagged the long reception over three Stanford defenders, then quarterback Kevin Sperry threw it up to the big-bodied Duce Robinson to draw a pass interference penalty.
On the untimed down, the Seminoles had one more opportunity to get into the end zone to tie the football game or even win it with a two-point conversion. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn drew up an incredible shuffle pass to running back Gavin Sawchuk.
DID SAWCHUK SCORE?
I originally thought that Sawchuk was going to score a touchdown easily, but the Stanford linebacker stonewalled him before he reached the end zone. This looked like the running back got in, but after the official review, it was ruled that Sawchuk didn't make it. This shouldn't be a method for fans to be mad at ACC refs. The contest should never have gotten to the point of being such a close game.
This will go down as another failure in the Norvell era that could be coming to an end, sooner rather than later. We at ChopChat never pull for individuals in the Garnet and Gold to fail. However, it seems to be writing on the wall that Norvell could be finished at Florida State.
Even if the touchdown by Sawchuk happened and the Seminoles ended up winning the game, this might not have been enough for Norvell to save his job. Nonetheless, this will forever be a football program that I will root for.
