RUSHING ATTACK

Florida State football lost to arch-rival Miami Hurricanes by a score of 28-22 on Saturday night. The Seminoles are searching for answers after the defeat. Head football coach Mike Norvell wants to put the loss behind him and focus on what they can control.

Coach Norvell discussed responding to adversity. This has been a theme during his tenure, where he has had to constantly address the term "adversity". There comes a point where you have to stop talking about it and go do it.

The Seminoles need to get back to the basics, which for them is running the football. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn's bread and butter is with his scheme. The Seminoles are averaging 295.4 rushing yards per game, but Florida State managed to accumulate only 132 yards on the ground against the Hurricanes.

TIME FOR THE VETERAN TO STEP UP

Seminole fans have faith in Florida State's rushing attack, but they see too much trickery from Gus Malzahn instead of being physical in the inside run scheme like they were in the opener against Alabama.

This is a chance for veteran running back Gavin Sawchuk to bounce back, where he only recorded 11 carries for 47 yards and zero touchdowns. This is the first contest of the 2025 season where the former Oklahoma transfer did not see the end zone.

The Pittsburgh Panthers rank 2nd in the FBS in rushing yards allowed per game (64.6), which could be a disastrous situation for a Seminoles' offense that wants to stay ahead of the chains. This could be an opportunity for an upperclassman to showcase his leadership to get Florida State back on track again.
