There was no California love for the Florida State women’s basketball team. Coming off a huge win at home vs Syracuse, the team traveled out west and suffered two heartbreaking defeats against Stanford and California. As the team travels back to Tallahassee, it’s back to the drawing board for head coach Brooke Wyckoff and her players.

Everything went well for the Seminoles to begin the year 2025. They started by getting their first road win against Virginia Tech led by a career-high 40 points from Ta’Niya Latson. Three days later, the Seminoles traveled back home to the Donald L. Tucker Center to grab a huge win over the Syracuse Orange. The win over the Orange showed that the team was still dominant on their home floor, as they currently stand at 9-0 in front of their fans.

While the team has found success at home, there have been struggles when traveling away from Tallahassee. For instance, the Seminoles lost their first road game of the season against Illinois. A month later, the team also took a loss in Knoxville against the Tennessee Volunteers. There’s one glaring issue when it comes to Florida State, which is their slow start to games.
