Ring, ring, ring... The Noles are getting busy in the portal on the trenches

Florida State could be getting more momentum in the trenches.

EXCITEMENT ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE?

Florida State football had exciting news on Wednesday afternoon as Rutgers true freshman offensive tackle transfer Jaelyne Matthews signed with the team. The Seminoles' offensive line position group was one of the worst in the country last season, so the program needs to take talent when it can.

Matthews is listed at 6'6" and 340 pounds. This is a perfect example of something that offensive line coach Herb Hand can build for the future.

ANOTHER ONE?

The Seminoles had another offensive lineman coming to campus on Wednesday with Vanderbilt redshirt freshman Joshua Raymond. He was a former three-star prospect in the 2024 cycle, but he did not make an appearance for the Commodores last year.

The talented offensive lineman went to Lake Mary High School in Lake Mary, Florida, which is roughly four hours away from Tallahassee. This is a situation where Florida State can build depth in the position room.

WHERE DO THEY SEE THE VANDY OFFENSIVE LINEMAN TRANSFER?

Raymond spoke with the media on Wednesday afternoon after his trip, and he stated that he could play offensive tackle and guard, but he thinks the coaching staff will want him as an offensive guard. He isn't as big as Matthews, as Raymond is listed at 6'4" and 298 pounds.

I realize that Florida State fans would probably prefer to get more experienced options in the fold at the position since they acquired veteran transfers such as Gunnar Hansen, Adrian Medley, Luke Petitbon, and Micah Pettus.

ANALYSIS

However, we saw how having a veteran offensive line unit worked last year as the Seminoles' offense was one of the worst in the entire country. Raymond stated that position coach Herb Hand communicated with him shortly after he entered the transfer portal, so he valued the importance of having him on the roster.

I like the potential take as Florida State fills the rest of the roster.
