Thomas Castellanos is expected to be a household name for the Seminoles in 2025.

Florida State football struggled during the 2024 season, where they finished with a 2-10 record. The Seminoles' fan base is now in "wait and see" mode as the program will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2025 opener in the newly renovated Doak Campbell Stadium.

Part of the fan base will blame quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei for the struggles of last year. However, the blame should be placed as a collective unit with Florida State. The Seminoles are testing their luck in the transfer portal once again this offseason as they acquired former UCF and Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos.

Castellanos was a three-star prospect that the Seminoles liked out of high school as a running back, but he desired to be much more than just a rusher. The Georgia native made head football coach Mike Norvell eat his decision as the 2023 matchup was a nail-biter, while 2024 was a blowout.

Overall, Castellanos will try to do everything in his power to allow Florida State to be successful in 2025. He is doing his part this offseason as he is working with Select QB Athletics. They are a premier quarterback training provider in the Houston metropolitan area, who has worked with signal-callers such as Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Kyron Drones.

I know that some fans are hesitant about the deficiencies of Castellanos, such as his short to intermediate accuracy, as well as the benching situation while he was at Boston College. However, with the addition of new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, this could be a win-win situation.

I am high on the signal-caller in 2025 for Florida State. I think this is a decision that Norvell will be glad that he took a chance on. I am not saying that his working with a quarterback training provider will automatically turn him into a first-round pick, but it does speak to his work ethic in perfecting his craft.
