Florida State football had a disappointing 2024 season in which the Seminoles finished with a 2-10 record. It was impressive that the program turned the narrative around and had an impressive 2025 recruiting class with the hiring of a new coaching staff.
We at ChopChat conducted a Q&A with Class of 2026 four-star linebacker Duyon "DQ" Forkpa Jr. from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The talented defender recently visited the Seminoles for their Junior Day event on February 1st. He also went to take a trip to campus last year for the matchup versus arch-rival Florida.
Q: What are you most excited about your official visit to Florida State on June 6th?
A: "I'm excited to get to know the players better. I haven't really got a chance to talk to them."
Q: What stands out to you about the Seminoles when it comes to deciding the best school for you in your recruitment?
A: "What stands out is how Coach White (defensive coordinator Tony White) runs his defense; the linebackers are involved in everything, rushing the passer, dropping into coverage, and that's the kind of football player that I want to be at the next level. I want to be versatile."
Forkpa Jr. has only scheduled an official visit to Florida State at this time. It looks like the Seminoles have made a good impression on him. The program has not secured a linebacker in the class yet, but it seems like the former Mill Creek High School standout in Georgia could be someone that Florida State will push heavily after.
