Florida State's 2023 recruiting class in the wide receiver position was highlighted by five-star Hykeem Williams and four-star Vandrevius Jacobs.

Many individuals were so excited about the acquisition of Williams (and Jacobs) due to his ranking and skillset. However, as last year's spring and summer workouts began to take place, it became apparent that Jacobs was far more comfortable with getting acclimated to the collegiate game.

While no one was worried about Williams being a bust, it was worth noting that it takes some prospects longer than others to get themselves adjusted to everything. Several media members thought that Jacobs would be integrated into the offense early on.

However, that thought process did not translate as much as the former four-star prospect played a bit in garbage time. With that being said, the Stranahan High School standout in Hykeem Williams had made his presence known where there were flashes as the season progressed.

Unfortunately, a lower-body injury kept the five-star prospect off of the field for a couple of weeks which hindered his development. He only recorded five receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown.

Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans spoke to the media recently and raved about Williams in how his body has transformed into something special. The #BuiltByStorms narrative is truly a spectacle to see as a variety of players on the roster have improved their bodies.

With the Seminoles' top-three pass catchers (Johnny Willson, Keon Coleman, and Jaheim Bell) declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft, players such as Hykeem Williams will have to emerge as leaders in the position room as they enter their second season.

While that is a ton of pressure and expectations put on the former five-star prospect, I do believe that he can handle everything thrown his way. He just has to stay consistent as well as healthy. The sky is the limit for the Fort Lauderdale, Florida native as he looks to be a go-to option for quarterback DJ Uiagalelei this season.
