Will the Noles be able to flip the services of 4-star DT target Jalen Wiggins?
Florida State football fans have always wanted the Seminoles to tap more into prospects from the Tallahassee area and keep the locals at home.
There have been instances where Tallahassee natives have not gone to Florida State over the past couple of recruiting cycles such as defensive back Terrion Arnold, linebacker Raylen Wilson, and defensive back Makari Vickers.
If the Seminoles want to be successful on the recruiting trail as well as on the football field then it would certainly be wise to keep highly-touted prospects at home. When this coaching staff arrived in Tallahassee when head football coach Mike Norvell was hired, they did not have many lasting relationships within the state of Florida other than defensive tackle coach Odell Haggins.
This 2025 recruiting cycle will be pivotal due to four-star defensive tackle target Jalen Wiggins from Rickards High School in Tallahassee. It is already bad enough that the talented defender has been committed to the arch-rival Florida Gators since January 15th.
However, Florida State has an opportunity to flip his services considering that they will host him on an official visit on June 21st. The Gators will get his official visit on June 7th. The Seminoles can get the last official impression. However, this is likely a recruitment that could linger into Signing Day.
With Wiggins being from the Tallahassee area, he has the luxury of going right down the road to visit the campus. While I understand that some prospects just want to leave the area and get a fresh start somewhere else, Florida State offers playing time with a great opportunity to be coached by the legendary Odell Haggins.
Nonetheless, this coaching staff is continuing to try and build a formidable 2025 class filled with prospects on the offensive and defensive sides of the line of scrimmage.
