Who will lead the Seminoles in major statistical categories for the 2024 season?
RECEIVING YARDS
Florida State is now having to replace the likes of Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, and Jaheim Bell to the 2024 NFL Draft, who were the Seminoles' top three leading pass catchers last season.
The Seminoles have talented pieces in their rotation such as Kentron Poitier, JaKhi Douglas, Destyn Hill, Hykeem Williams, and Vandrevius Jacobs. They also added transfers such as Alabama's Malik Benson and LSU's Jalen Brown.
Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans has consistently gotten the best out of his playmakers in the last couple of seasons. However, the coaching staff is having to go back to the drawing board. With wide receiver play, it heavily revolves around quarterback play.
As I alluded to earlier, DJ Uiagalelei has a relatively strong arm and commands the offense well as a seasoned veteran. During his time with the Beavers, his top two leading receivers were 5'8" Silas Bolden and Anthony Gould. However, I believe that he could gravitate to a 6'1" wide receiver with electric speed when he gets the football in his hands.
I think that Malik Benson will be the leading pass catcher for the 2024 season. It is a bold prediction considering that there are unproven options in the room plus he did not have much production in his only season with the Crimson Tide where he recorded 13 receptions for 162 yards and 1 touchdown. I think that Norvell could gravitate to utilizing the screen more often this season.
Pick: Malik Benson
