Who could be the next Seminole football player to be a first-round pick?
DE MARVIN JONES JR.
We just talked about one talented defensive end in Patrick Payton who has been with the program since the beginning. However, the recent trend is that the Seminoles' transfers have been successful in becoming first-round picks.
What a cool moment it would be if former Georgia junior defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. (who just arrived in Tallahassee this offseason) would be selected in the first round of next year's draft.
As most know, Marvin Jones Jr. is the son of legendary Florida State linebacker Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones Sr. who played with the Seminoles in the 1990s. That would be a bittersweet moment for Seminole fans after individuals really wanted the former five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class before he originally signed with the Georgia Bulldogs.
Even though he first signed with the Bulldogs, Jones Jr. has the opportunity to be successful with Florida State alongside pass rusher Patrick Payton.
I believe this should be a special defensive line unit for the Seminoles and could be even better than the 2023 season.
