Florida State's 2025 recruiting class is currently listed as the seventeenth-best in the 247Sports Composite rankings. However, there is still a long way to go if the Seminoles want to get where they want to be.

The coaching staff has got some talented prospects who have said "yes" to Florida State. Head football coach Mike Norvell is focused on getting the right fit for the program.

It seems to be working as Florida State currently possesses a 23-4 record over the past two seasons. However, the main objective for the Seminoles is to continue to get better each day. The way to do that is to continue acquiring talent via the transfer portal and recruiting ranks.

One notable prospect to monitor is four-star safety Ladarian Clardy from Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida. Clardy has been trending to the Ole Miss Rebels over the past couple of weeks. He was projected to make his decision on August 3rd.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, Clardy announced on social media that he would not be announcing his commitment on August 3rd.

Could this open the door for the Seminoles to get involved? Clardy took a visit to Ole Miss on Monday, July 29th, and made this decision after the trip. As a result, it makes you wonder about how involved Florida State is in his recruitment.

Personally, I still think Clardy chooses Ole Miss but this allows Florida State more of an opportunity to get involved with the talented Pensacola native.

Florida State has two defensive backs committed in its 2025 recruiting class with four-star cornerback Gregory "Zae" Thomas and three-star safety Max Redmon. Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. flexed his recruiting muscles last cycle with Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III.

The expectation is that Florida State wants to get 1-2 more defensive backs in this cycle with pieces such as Azareye'h Thomas, Fentrell Cypress II, Shyheim Brown, and Devonte Brown departing after the 2024 season.
