OFFENSIVE TACKLE

Florida State offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins has made his presence known via the transfer portal. However, he will now have to replace Casey Roddick, D'Mitri Emmanuel, and Bless Harris. Luckily enough, the Seminoles were able to pick up Richie Leonard IV, TJ Ferguson, and Jacob Rizy.

All three of them will play on the interior of the offensive line. Even though Rizy played offensive tackle at Harvard, the coaching staff views him as an interior offensive lineman.

Florida State will be returning offensive tackle pieces such as Robert Scott Jr., Darius Washington (who can play anywhere on the offensive line), Jeremiah Byers, Julian Armella, Lucas Simmons, Tye Hylton, and Jayden Todd. However, can the coaching staff rely upon Armella or Simmons in 2024 as serviceable rotational pieces?

The offensive tackle position is one of the most coveted within the transfer portal due to its ability to protect the quarterback against viable pass rushers. With Scott Jr. and Washington's injury history, would it be smart to acquire an experienced offensive tackle just in case they are unable to play?
