Veteran defensive back Shyheim Brown broke the rock to end fall camp

Florida State football is starting to conclude their fall camp and prepare for their season opener versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 24th at 12 PM EST.

The Seminoles have to turn the page after they achieved an undefeated regular season and a championship in 2023. However, fans and individuals associated with Florida State still express their frustrations after the College Football Playoff committee excluded an undefeated Seminoles team in favor of one-loss Alabama.

Florida State added several pieces via the transfer portal this offseason such as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, wide receiver Malik Benson, and defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. They also still have players who were on the roster last season.

The coaching staff decided to allow redshirt junior safety Shyheim Brown break the rock to end fall camp practices as they get ready for Georgia Tech.

Brown is one of the most talented pieces on the Seminoles' defensive unit in 2024. Florida State is having to replace the likes of safety Akeem Dent, who communicated well and ensured that the Seminoles were lined up properly.

The former three-star prospect was not considered an All-American prospect out of high school. However, this coaching staff has been known to develop a variety of players on its roster.

Brown recorded 53 total tackles during the 2023 season. It is worth wondering which safety will be paired alongside him: Davonte Brown or Conrad Hussey? It could elevate Brown's play if he has the right running mate with him.

Brown has been referred to as a vocal leader of the team. Defensive coordinator Adam Fuller has to feel confident in his defense's ability to be successful especially early in the year. While Brown is only a redshirt junior in 2024, I believe that he has chance to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
