Two highly touted prospects for the Seminoles will be making decisions today
It has been no secret that Florida State football has struggled on the football field this season with losses over Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Memphis. However, the Seminoles are looking to get back on the right track against California.
The program had such high expectations that they were projected to win the conference and make the College Football Playoff this year after accomplishing an undefeated regular season and conference championship in 2023.
The recruiting trail has not been kind to Florida State as they have lost the commitments of four-star defensive end Javion Hilson and four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles (flipped to Texas). It is difficult to attract high school recruits when the team is underperforming at all levels.
However, the positive trend could change tonight as Florida State is favored versus California in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium. Ever since former quarterback Jordan Travis suffered his season-ending injury versus North Alabama in November, it has been an absolute disaster for Florida State.
Head football coach Mike Norvell has always emphasized the importance of responding to adversity. It all starts with getting a victory in Saturday's matchup.
As it relates to the recruiting class for the 2025 cycle, Florida State ranks outside the top 30 according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. However, good news could be coming soon for the program as four-star running back Byron Louis from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Louis is deciding between Florida State, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Miami tonight. The talented back has expressed his comfort with Mike Norvell and running backs coach David Johnson. Even with the struggles on the field, Louis still has a crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida State and I think the American Heritage standout will choose the Seminoles and be with his high school teammate (four-star cornerback Gregory Thomas).
It is also relevant to mention that four-star safety Ladarian Clardy will also be deciding today. However, Clardy has been receiving crystal ball predictions in favor of the Ole Miss Rebels. The talented defensive back would be a huge get for the program.
