The recruiting dead period has officially begun across the college football landscape where the coaching staff is unable to conduct in-person visits on or off campus with any prospects. The 2024 recruiting class for the Florida State Seminoles has been constructed.

Much of the attention has now been centered around the 2025 recruiting class. While building the future foundation of the program is important, I did want to highlight one prospect from the 2024 cycle who signed with Florida State.

The Seminoles are consistently allowing their newcomers to speak to the media. On Thursday, it was time for four-star cornerback Charles Lester III to have his opportunity. Within the interview, he discusses Tour of Duty (FSU's offseason workout) and how it truly defines how you handle adversity.

The Venice High School standout was an excellent addition to the Seminoles' secondary. He originally committed to Florida State back in July of last year. He has continued to develop the relationship with coaching staff, primarily his connections with head football coach Mike Norvell and defensive backs Patrick Surtain Sr.

While most fans are still experiencing PTSD from the Travis Hunter situation from the 2022 recruiting cycle, Lester III remained loyal to Florida State and what it brought to the table. Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes were certainly calling to garner interest at various points in the recruitment.

The talented defensive back can play cornerback, wide receiver, and even contribute as a special teams returner. His versatility could be a difference maker as the Seminoles hope to still be in the College Football Playoff conversation in the late portion of November.

While it is difficult to expect a ton from a true freshman, Lester III could be a household name that the fans hear early and often within the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium. While he is so young, he possess a high sense of confidence in himself that is needed to play at a high level.

With the south Florida native in the fold, the defensive backfield seems to be in great hands.
