Florida State has shockingly not been as active via the transfer portal. Head football coach Mike Norvell and company have made a name for themselves when it comes to acquiring veteran talent on their roster.

The Seminoles' team has 38 new scholarship newcomers on its squad. The program has elevated to new heights where Florida State has a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons.

There are still positions that need to be addressed such as offensive tackle, defensive tackle, and linebacker. The Seminoles are looking to elevate itself as a program after not being included in the College Football Playoff last season in favor of a one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide team.

One transfer that fans should keep a close eye on is Grand Valley State defensive tackle transfer Jay'viar Suggs. The transfer has two years of eligibility. He recorded 21 total tackles (7.5 for loss) and five sacks during the 2023 season.

Suggs will now be visiting Florida State's campus this weekend. The Seminoles need to find viable options at the defensive tackle position after having Braden Fiske and Fabien Lovett Sr. head to the NFL.

I do believe that the duo of Joshua Farmer and Darrell Jackson Jr. will be something to watch for. However, pieces such as Grady Kelly, Tomiwa Durojaiye, and Daniel Lyons could be mysteries in terms of production in 2024.

I never want to doubt the abilities of defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins as he has developed several players into NFL draft picks over the years. I cannot wait to see how Florida State continues to attack the transfer portal during this stretch.

I think that Suggs could be a rotational piece at the very worst for Florida State. This could be just what the Seminoles need in terms of an experience veteran with production.
