Three important players from the Seminoles' roster for the 2024 season
MAURICE SMITH
For a majority of the time, offensive lineman Maurice Smith was the only option that could snap the football. As most individuals know, bad snapping can result in losses (For example: Alabama losing to Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinal).
Uiagalelei (or Brock Glenn if he wins the job) needs to be able to command the offense without having the rhythm jeopardized by bad snaps. While I know that the offensive is not the flashiest position in college football, quarterbacks needed their offensive line to be successful (instead you are Deondre Francois who took hit after hit).
Another aspect to keep in mind is that Darius Washington is another option that can be able to snap the ball. Washington is the team's Swiss Army Knife where he can play at tackle, offensive guard, or center if the squad needs him too.
Maurice Smith is a bit on the smaller side when it comes to his weight. As a result, that opens the door to injuries. There tend to be injury factors within the offensive line due to wear and tear throughout the season. However, Smith has to be mindful of staying healthy because it was wise to have Washington available for other positions instead of just being utilized at center.
