DE JARED VERSE

One of the biggest developments last offseason was the fact that redshirt sophomore defensive end Jared Verse would be returning for another season in Tallahassee for the 2023 season. The former Albany transfer was already projected to be a first-round selection.

However, Verse elected to stick with Florida State as he understood the program had unfinished business. Fans began to worry early on in the season due to Verse not having the early success. This was mainly because he was taking on double and triple teams.

Even with the early season drought, the defensive end finished with 41 total tackles (12.5 tackles for loss) and 9 sacks in 2023. Just like Fiske, the talented edge rusher saved his best for last as he combined to have 12 total tackles (6 tackles for loss) and 4.5 sacks in the contests versus Florida and Louisville.

Verse has the opportunity to make a ton of money for himself soon as most NFL Draft mock drafts have him selected in the first round. It could be deja vu for Seminole fans after Jermaine Johnson II was selected by the New York Jets a few years ago.
